Terms of Service

1. What Calorintel Is

Calorintel is a free, browser-based weight tracking tool. You enter daily weight measurements; the app calculates rolling averages, estimates your approximate calorie deficit or surplus from your weight trend, and shows your progress relative to any goals you set.

The app runs in your browser. Sign-in (via Google) is required to use the service. Your data is stored in Google Firestore.

The service is free. There are no paid plans, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases.

2. Health Disclaimer — Read This Carefully

Calorintel does not provide medical advice, nutritional advice, or dietary recommendations. It is an analytical tool — it processes numbers you enter and returns calculations based on those numbers.

Specifically:

• The calorie deficit or surplus shown in the app is an estimate. It is derived from changes in your rolling weight average using a standard conversion factor (7,700 kcal/kg). It is not a clinical measurement. It will be inaccurate at times — during water retention, hormonal fluctuations, illness, or periods of low data.
• Nothing in the app should be interpreted as a recommendation to eat or not eat specific amounts, to pursue specific weight goals, or to make changes to your diet or exercise routine.
• Weight management can interact with physical and mental health in complex ways. Before making significant dietary changes — especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, are under 18, or have a history of disordered eating — consult a qualified healthcare professional.
• The "goal" and "on track" features are tools for your own self-monitoring. They do not represent clinical targets or professional guidance.

By using Calorintel, you acknowledge that you are using it at your own discretion and that results are estimates only.

3. No Liability for Decisions

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Calorintel and its operator are not liable for any harm, loss, or consequence arising from:

• Decisions you make about food, diet, exercise, or health based on the app's output
• Inaccurate estimates produced by the app
• Data loss due to browser behaviour, account deletion, or service interruption
• Any interruption, suspension, or termination of the service

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

4. Your Responsibilities

Accurate data

The quality of the app's output depends entirely on the data you enter. You are responsible for entering your own weight data. You should not enter data for someone else without their knowledge.

Account security

Sign-in is handled by Google. You are responsible for the security of your Google account, including its password and any two-factor authentication. Because we never see or store your password, we cannot assist with account recovery — that is between you and Google.

Your own health

You are responsible for evaluating whether the app is appropriate for your personal circumstances and for any decisions you make using it. See Section 2.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the app's source code
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, its infrastructure, or other users' data
• Introduce any malware, virus, or harmful code
• Use automated tools to scrape, stress-test, or abuse the service

The app is intended for personal use only.

6. Your Data

You own your data. Weight entries, notes, events, and goals that you enter into Calorintel belong to you.

You can export your complete weight history as a CSV file at any time from within the app. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app — go to Menu and select "Delete Account." Deletion is permanent and immediate.

We do not claim any ownership over your data, and we do not use it for any purpose other than running the app for you. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

7. Service Availability

Calorintel is a free service operated by a solo founder. We do not guarantee any specific level of uptime, availability, or service continuity.

The service may be interrupted briefly for maintenance, updates, or circumstances outside our control. We aim to give advance notice of planned maintenance through a notice within the app.

If we decide to shut down the service permanently, we will give at least 30 days' notice so you have time to export your data.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service as the app evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.

For significant changes — such as changes that affect your rights or obligations — we will notify you by email (if you have an account) or by a prominent notice within the app, with at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Continuing to use Calorintel after updated terms take effect means you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, you can delete your account and stop using the service.

9. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Calorintel will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Dutch courts, unless EU consumer law provides you with mandatory rights to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
